KO AUTO has been servicing and repairing cars off Short Street since 2021. We do the ordinary work, the rego inspections, and the days when someone rolls in off the Waterfall Way with a problem they did not plan for.

What we do
Ordinary jobs done properly, and the awkward ones too.
We are a general mechanical workshop. Most weeks that means services, repairs and rego inspections for people who live in the valley, plus whoever turns up needing a hand on their way through.
Pink slip inspections
We are a registered inspection station for Bellingen, so your eSafety inspection for the rego renewal is done here rather than an hour away on the coast.
Blue slip inspections
For an unregistered vehicle, one coming from interstate, or a rego that has lapsed. Booked in the same way as a pink slip.
Tyres and puncture repairs
Repairs where a tyre can be saved, and a replacement ordered in when it cannot. We have got tyres shipped in overnight for people who could not wait.
Breakdowns and people passing through
A fair bit of our week is someone who has come unstuck on the Waterfall Way or in the national park. If we cannot fix it today we will tell you straight and help you work out the next step.
Trailer and towing electrics
Trailer lights, brake light wiring and the small things that go wrong on the road mid trip. Often sorted on the spot.

KO AUTO is a registered vehicle inspection station for Bellingen, so you do not have to run your car down to the coast and back for a piece of paper. Book it in, drop it off, get on with your day.

For a vehicle that is unregistered, has come from interstate, or whose registration has lapsed. A closer look than a pink slip.
Ring first either way. Inspections take a set slot in the day and we would rather book you a time than have you sit and wait.

We got a flat tyre deep in the National Park and were towed to Bellingen by the NRMA. We got to KO late in the day and they didn't have our tyre unfortunately but they looked after us, gave us tips on where to stay and in the morning they efficiently found us a tyre, got it shipped in and replaced it in no time. The cost was very fair as well. Thank you for helping us out in our time of need. Highly recommended.

The guys at KO were great to us. Our trailer had an issue mid travells, brake light cable got torn off. We pulled into KO after a local recommendation. They fixed the cable straight away and only charged us parts cost.
The workshop
A country garage, run the way one should be.
KO AUTO works out of a shed in the lane behind Short Street, a few steps off Hyde Street in the middle of Bellingen. It is not a showroom. It is a working garage with a hoist, a bench and a good deal of Bellingen Valley traffic through it.
The business has traded as KO Auto Pty Ltd since 2021. The words that keep coming back in the reviews are honest, fair and reliable, which is about the best thing a mechanic can have said about them.
We look after locals first, and we have a soft spot for people who break down somewhere between here and Dorrigo and need someone to be straight with them.
